May the Fourth Be With You!

Happy star wars day

Yep, it’s that time

of the year. How are you spending your May the Fourth? However you’re spending it, here are 21 Star Wars facts you might not have known. As a fan of the originals and not the prequels, these will be facts just about IV, V and VI or better known as the original trilogy.

21 : George Lucas was so sure the first film would flop that-instead of attending the premiere-he went on holiday with his good friend Steven Spielberg. While they were there, they came up for the idea for Raiders of the Lost Ark.

20 : Mark Hamill shot the scene in Cloud City-where Luke is hanging upside down, arm less-hours after the birth of his son(Nathan Hamill). He went to the set straight from the hospital.

19 : In the scene on Jabba’s barge where C3P0’s eye is being bitten by a small rodent like creature that was sat beside Jabba in his palace, Anthony Daniels-who played C3P0-had a panic attack and couldn’t said his lines. All he said was “Get me up. Get me up” repeatedly. His lines were added in after.

18 : Alec Guinness-who played the original Obi-Wan Kenobi-hated the role and particularly the dialogue. He threw out any fan mail that was sent to him without reading it. There are two reasons why he was killed off so early. One is the Guinness insisted on it as he despised the role while the other is that George Lucas made the decision due to Guinness’ bitterness on set.

17 : Mark Hamill did almost all of his stunts in Empire Strikes Back, except for the scene where he was sucked out of the window while fighting Vader,

16 :  The original Emperor’s voice was provided by Clive Revill. His actor is not known, however it was an elderly woman stand-in. The eyes were Chimpanzee eyes later added.

15 : The scene in Yoda’s hut where Luke bangs his head was shot 16 times before the director was satisfied.

14 : While flying to the set location of A New Hope, the cast had to fly coach. Carrie Fisher’s mother rang George Lucas to complain about her daughter flying coach. Carrie Fisher was in the room at the time, and asked to speak with her, in which she simply said “Mother, I’m happy flying coach. F*ck off”.

13 : In A New Hope, Harrison Ford deliberately didn’t learn his lines for the intercom scene in the cell block in order for it to be spontaneous.

12 : In the scene where Leia and Luke swing to safety while being chased by stormstroopers in A New Hope, stunt doubles weren’t used. Hamill and Fisher did it themselves in one take.

11 : James Earl Jones-who provided Darth Vader’s voice-and Dave Prowse-who acted in the suit-have never actually met.

10 : Peter Mayhew-whom played Chewbacca-was originally an orderly in a Yorkshire hospital. He got the part in 10 seconds of meeting Lucas. The 7 feet 2 Peter Mayhew, merely had to stand up.

9 : In early drafts of the script, R2-D2 could speak standard English, and had a rather foul vocabulary. Although all of Artoo’s English speech was removed, many of C-3PO’s reactions to it were left in.

8 : Originally Luke was a girl, Han Solo was an Alien, the wookiees were called Jawas, and R2-D2 and C-3PO were called A-2 and C-3.

7 : The reason why Yoda confirmed that Vader was Luke’s father was that prior to this, George Lucas visted a child’s psychiatrist. The psychiatrist said that children under the age of 12 would dismiss Vader’s claim as a lie.

6 : Admiral Ackbar’s backstory is that he was once the slave of Grand Moff Tarkin, as well as his personal pilot.

5 : As Obi-Wan and Yoda urge Luke to finish his training on Dagobah, Luke pulls a snake out of his ship. Lucas assured Hamill that the snake was harmless, however it did bite him on occasion.

4 : In Empire Strikes Back, one of the asteroids is a shoe. It’s rumoured that one of the SFX guys were so annoyed at the repeated takes that one of them threw their shoe in. Another asteroid is a potato.

3 : Before Star Wars had even been released, Mark Hamill was nearly killed in an automobile accident and as a result, had to have reconstructive surgery on his face. George Lucas used the Wampa attack to explain Luke’s altered appearance. When Hamill asked Lucas what he would have done if Hamill had been killed in the accident, Lucas told him that he would not have recast the part of Luke. Instead, a new character would have been introduced that would be linked genetically, in some way, to Luke. This link would also explain the new character’s strength in the Force.

2 : The skeleton that Threepio passes belongs to a Tatooine creature called a Greater Krayt Dragon. This artificial skeleton was left in the Tunisian desert after filming and still lies there. During filming of Episode 2 : Attack of the Clones, the site was visited by the crew and the skeleton was still there.

1 : In the end of Empire Strikes Back, see see Lando and Chewbacca in the Millennium Falcon. Lando is wearing Han Solo’s clothes. A reason for this has never been given.

Make sure to check out HelloGreedo’s Youtube channel, he recently made a video combining his own list.

So there we have it. Enjoy your Star Wars day everybody and let me know how you’re spending it. May the fourth be with you!

Are Animals Capable of Being Born Monsters?

I hear all the time that animals are not like humans in the sense that they are unaware of what is right and what is wrong and treat others only the way they were treated. Over the past week, I set out to find out if animals are in fact moulded by their surroundings.

Are Humans Moulded By Their Surroundings?

You hear the phrase, ‘Monsters are made, not born” around quite a bit. But is that really true? Is everyone born with empathy, sympathy and morals but are turned into monsters because they are treated badly? The answer is no. While it may be true in a lot of cases, it is a known fact that both psychopaths and sociopaths are born with a genetic abnormality which causes them to behave this way. As far as I know, you cannot become a sociopath nor a psychopath when you were not born with the genetic abnormality in the first place. What can happen, however, is that you had Anti-Social Personality Disorder the entire time but it was only after a traumatic experience that it surfaced but that is a different story. It can also happen that people develop psychopathic tendencies but are not actual psychopaths. So we’ve settled humans. Now animals,

Can An Animal Be Born as a Monster?

Obviously, animals such as dogs can be moulded by their surroundings. If treated badly, they can attack and inflict damage on others easily. Whether it’s because they feel or threatened or are damaged in general and don’t know any better. The thing about psychopaths is that they do no better. They are aware of what’s right and wrong. They are aware of the rules. They choose to break those rules and choose to do things that are wrong. As we grow up, we are told what is right and what is wrong. Even though we have emotions capable of informing us of what we feel is right and wrong, without societies’ influence, we may not be able to recognize these emotions from an early age and/or they may not be fully developed. Dogs are similar. However societies has a far lesser influence on them. Dogs do get commands from their owners but are not influenced by the media nor society. Animals also tend not to act of spite. They don’t hold grudges or seek revenge as they lack the intelligence to do so. They rely on instinct alone to act, which means that they are incapable of considering such actions.

Final Word : Why Humans Are More Monstrous Than Animals?

My thoughts on this are that, when it comes to animals committing horrendous acts such as murder, they can be compared to the legally insane. They don’t know the difference between right and wrong. But, humans can also by psychopathic which is far worse. Psychopathic, as I explained before, means that you are aware of the rules but a lot of them choose to break them. They know what’s right and wrong but simply don’t care. While animals act on pure instinct alone.

Thanks for reading! First, I’d just like to point out that I’m aware that not all psychopaths are murderous, monstrous people and that many of them live rich and successful as well as normal lives and that I’m aware that humans are also animals. I just generalised dogs, cats, lions, fish etc into one category as I thought it was easiest. Leave your thoughts in a comment below!

Ray William Johnson Is An Asshole

Finally its Friday!

I am here today to make my first rant on a Youtuber. I realize that this topic has already been covered but I feel that the most awareness brought to this, the better. Image

This is an unaltered series of Tweets made by RayWilliamJohnson. As you can see, someone makes a comment saying “you’re not funny anymore. sorry”. You know, she’s not even being mean. If she said something along the lines of “shut the hell up. no one likes you” then I guess he’d have the right to make a rude comment back. I wouldn’t approve it but it would make more sense. The girl who says this to him is actually being quite mature, and is a teenage girl. Ray, however, who is in his thirties by the way, responds with “That’s ok. You’re still fat.” and later makes tweet to the same person(despite her barely reacting) saying “Oh and you have the face of a guy. Good luck with that.”

Unbelievable. RayWilliamJohnson is a 32 year old, Youtuber and Actor who is watched by millions of people. You’d think a guy like that would be a bit more professional. He insulted a young girl half his age to the fullest extent just because she expressed her opinion like an adult.

Then someone else commented on what he said, saying he was rude and why did he have to insult a fourteen year old when, he, himself is 30(Good Point), Ray said “eat a dick, kid. if you’re gonna dish out insults like an adult then learn to take them like an adult”

Don’t you love how he contradicts himself? He said that she should learn to take insults like an adult, yet he handles the situation the least maturely. The fourteen year old handled it twice as mature as he did. Ray, you definitely can’t take things like an adult. Secondly, anyone noticed that he said “if you’re gonna dish out insults..”? Woah, Ray, I’ll stop you there. Where exactly did she insult you? She said you were rude. How the hell is that insulting? It’s 100% true. And that’s the nicest way of putting it. I can’t say I would’ve been as mature.

I’e never been interested in Ray’s content. But now I know he is a complete asshole who doesn’t deserve to be watched by anybody. Spread the word. By the way, I am aware that this was in 2012. But in my mind, that doesn’t matter. If you look at his newer tweets you’ll see that he is continuing to behave this way.

Ricky Gervais = Hypocrite?

Ricky Gervais

Ricky Gervais is a British Comedian who is very outspoken about Atheism, as well as his other beliefs and opinions. I don’t have a problem with this. I agree, everyone has the right to say whatever they want. However, Mr Gervais doesn’t seem to think that this applies to anyone but him. Mr Gervais spends his time on site such as Twitter and Facebook bashing Religion as well as other subjects. Yet, whenever he gets any negative criticism, he threatens to block the person and calls them an idiot. Let’s take a look at an example of this :

“If you don’t like my posts, please let me know and I will block you”

You know, Ricky, for a guy who spends a lot of time dishing out negative comments you sure can’t take them. Ignoring negative criticism is one thing, but censoring them is quite another.

“What kind of a c*nt likes your page and then complains about it”?

(I’m sorry but that wasn’t his exact words, but he has made this argument several times)Well, Ricky, guess what? You don’t have to like a page to see their posts. Every Facebook user should know that what other people like also comes up on your newsfeed. Hell, Gervais might even come up in a recommended page. This means that Gervais’ posts may come up regardless of whether or not you’ve liked his page.

So Ricky, you’re allowed to make fun of people’s beliefs and opinions constantly but if someone says anything negative about you, you feel the need to block them and call them a “c*nt”? Are you the only one who has the right to free speech or what?

Thanks for reading.

The Pros to Google+ Comments

Google +

I know this is a little late but I bet a lot of people are still pissed about this.

We’re all annoyed about what happened to Youtube, right? Let me elaborate. Youtube is now forcing us to make a Google account. They’ve even prevented us from making comments without it. But is Google+ really so bad?

I thought today we could look at the pros that Google+ Comments have to offer :

1 : It can help promote your Youtube channel.

This one doesn’t apply to me but I thought I’d make the point that when you make a comment on a Youtube video, there’s a box already ticked that posts the comment on your Google account. That way your videos will show up on the profile of people who’ve commented on them, giving you more publicity.

2 : You can now leave links in comments

On one level, this could be a bad idea, as Youtube already has a big problem with spam which I won’t get into right now. However, this feature is very useful and fun.

3 : 500 character limit = gone

Before, you could only write comments that are 500 characters or less. This is gone and there is now no limit to the length of your comment. Personally, I think this is the best feature. I’ve had many problems before with trying to make my comment below 500 characters and this feature gets rid of it altogether.

So there you go. I hope this post has given you a little bit of a positive outlook on the change that has happened. More posts soon.

Why I’m Not An Atheist Any more

What is the definition of an Atheist?

The definition of an Atheist is someone who denies the existence of God. They think God can be disproved(or has been disproved) and are certain that God does not exist.

God has never been proven. Although, God has never been dis-proven either. I’m not saying God exists and I’m not saying he doesn’t. I’m stating that we don’t know and we never will. The reason we don’t have prove of God’s existence could be because that leaves the element of Faith. Many Religious people believe that you must have strong faith in God to earn your place in Heaven. Perhaps this is all just a test of the strength of our faith.

Atheists often accuse Religious people of being closed minded and being in denial. Religious people believe in God no matter what. But Atheists do the exact same, they refuse to believe in God no matter what. Yes, God has not been proven and there is a strong possibility that Religion was made up along the way. But, isn’t there a possibility(big or small) that God does in fact exist? Think about it people.

I am now an Agnostic. Someone who believes that God cannot be proven nor dis-proven. Yes, I doubt his exist. But I’m not certain he doesn’t exist. I believe in that possibility.

Thanks for reading. I apologize greatly for my lack of posts. I’ve been very busy. Happy New Year.

Has The Simpsons Run Its Course?

Image

I’m sure you are all familiar with-probably the most famous TV Show of all time-The Simpsons. I can’t deny that The Simpsons was once a great show. In fact, the older episodes still make me cry with laughter to this day.

However-while I’m not precisely sure when-a while ago, the series began going down hill. It’s not just regular “it ain’t as good as it used to be”. No, the series has clearly lost it. Story lines are constantly being reused and the jokes are becoming just plain unfunny. They’ve lost all of the magic that the show used to have. The magic that made the show what it used to be. The new episodes lack subtlety. They rely on putting characters in bizarre and ridiculous situations that don’t make the show any funnier. I’ve also noticed that the newer episodes often revolve around made up back stories that contradict previous episodes.

My Advice To Matt Groening

I know that my opinion doesn’t matter to Matt or any of the writers for that matter and that the odds that anyone involved in the production of the show gets the opportunity to view this blog post are very small, however I’d still like to point out what I think should be done with the show. Personally, I think that the writers should put everything they’ve got into one final season or movie. To be honest, the first movie was quite good. Just make one final season or movie and put an end to it. The Simpsons ran it’s course a long time ago. Lets face it, the show has been squeezed dry. It’s time to say goodbye to our beloved family, before it comes to the point which it is un-watchable.

Let me know what you think! Do you think the show has run its course? Or is it as good as ever? Let me know. Keep an eye out for my latest posts and give me a follow if you can. Cheers!

Wrestling. Scripted or fake? There’s a Difference….

Image

Even though I do not watch modern wrestling, I have been a proud fan of pre-2007 wrestling for years. It is my understanding that many people criticize it for being “fake”. First of all, I’m not making a futile attempt to convert you to the sport. I am merely standing up for it against these critics.

It’s not fake. It’s scripted

Yes, there is a difference in this context. “fake” implies that no one gets hurt, and that everything is set up. This isn’t true. Matches are planned, outcomes are planned, some of the moves are fake, correct. However people still get really hurt and unplanned events often occur.

I do not see why wrestling being scripted is an issue. You watch movies, right? They’re “fake” but nobody complains about them. Wrestling has been revealed to be scripted since the 80s, at the latest and since then the majority of its fans have been aware that it is scripted.

Why do we still watch it?

It’s in the title! WWE : World Wrestling Entertainment. It’s entertaining! If it wasn’t scripted it wouldn’t be as entertaining and people would get seriously hurt, even killed. Wrestlers go through more than you might think. Just because it’s planned doesn’t mean accidents don’t occur! Accidents happen all the time. Hardcore wrestler Mick Foley has lost 3 front teeth, 2/3s of his ear, fractured shoulders, broken wrists, broken ribs, broken toes, dislocations, torn muscles, separated shoulders, concussions, thousands of thumbtack holes and more! All from wrestling. And that was only one guy. Many wrestlers face injuries like this everyday. Some people have even died from it! My point is, I think wrestlers deserve a little more respect, don’t you? Considering they put their lives on the line every night for their fans.

Thanks for reading! Keep up with my latest posts! (Future posts will not consist of solely wrestling. I plan on covering a variety of topics which I hope you take a look at it. Again thanks for reading. Feel free to share your opinion)
