Are Animals Capable of Being Born Monsters?

I hear all the time that animals are not like humans in the sense that they are unaware of what is right and what is wrong and treat others only the way they were treated. Over the past week, I set out to find out if animals are in fact moulded by their surroundings.

Are Humans Moulded By Their Surroundings?

You hear the phrase, ‘Monsters are made, not born” around quite a bit. But is that really true? Is everyone born with empathy, sympathy and morals but are turned into monsters because they are treated badly? The answer is no. While it may be true in a lot of cases, it is a known fact that both psychopaths and sociopaths are born with a genetic abnormality which causes them to behave this way. As far as I know, you cannot become a sociopath nor a psychopath when you were not born with the genetic abnormality in the first place. What can happen, however, is that you had Anti-Social Personality Disorder the entire time but it was only after a traumatic experience that it surfaced but that is a different story. It can also happen that people develop psychopathic tendencies but are not actual psychopaths. So we’ve settled humans. Now animals,

Can An Animal Be Born as a Monster?

Obviously, animals such as dogs can be moulded by their surroundings. If treated badly, they can attack and inflict damage on others easily. Whether it’s because they feel or threatened or are damaged in general and don’t know any better. The thing about psychopaths is that they do no better. They are aware of what’s right and wrong. They are aware of the rules. They choose to break those rules and choose to do things that are wrong. As we grow up, we are told what is right and what is wrong. Even though we have emotions capable of informing us of what we feel is right and wrong, without societies’ influence, we may not be able to recognize these emotions from an early age and/or they may not be fully developed. Dogs are similar. However societies has a far lesser influence on them. Dogs do get commands from their owners but are not influenced by the media nor society. Animals also tend not to act of spite. They don’t hold grudges or seek revenge as they lack the intelligence to do so. They rely on instinct alone to act, which means that they are incapable of considering such actions.

Final Word : Why Humans Are More Monstrous Than Animals?

My thoughts on this are that, when it comes to animals committing horrendous acts such as murder, they can be compared to the legally insane. They don’t know the difference between right and wrong. But, humans can also by psychopathic which is far worse. Psychopathic, as I explained before, means that you are aware of the rules but a lot of them choose to break them. They know what’s right and wrong but simply don’t care. While animals act on pure instinct alone.

Thanks for reading! First, I’d just like to point out that I’m aware that not all psychopaths are murderous, monstrous people and that many of them live rich and successful as well as normal lives and that I’m aware that humans are also animals. I just generalised dogs, cats, lions, fish etc into one category as I thought it was easiest. Leave your thoughts in a comment below!
